Toshio Shimizu, M.D., Ph.D.

DR. TOSHIO SHIMIZU is a medical oncologist and clinical investigator who has been selected for the prestigious position of a Visiting Scholar through The University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy.  During his two year tenure he also will function as a Visiting Clinical Fellow with START.

Dr. Shimizu completed medical school at the Kinki University School of Medicine, Osaka, Japan.  He previously served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Oncology at Kinki University School of Medicine as well as Chief of Medical Staff for the Division of Medical Oncology at Kinki University Nara Hospital in Nara, Japan.

He is a Board Certified Member of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, and a Diplomate of the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology.
 
His clinical interests are in the development of new anticancer agents with a particular focus on developing  molecular genetic targets for cancer therapy and pharmacokinetics in the early clinical development of new anticancer agents.
